Diprivan generic name Propoful is a part of the family of drugs that are used for starting or maintaining anesthesia during specific surgeries, tests or procedures. It is used as a general anesthetic but it is not known exactly how it works. It may also be used for other purposes. It is administered as an injection.
Do not use Diprivan for patients younger than 3 years old.
Do not drink alcohol while using Diprivan as the side effects will be greatly increased.
Do not use this drug if you have an allergy to it, are allergic to eggs, egg products, soybeans or soy products.
Before using this drug advise your physician if you are pregnant, plan to become or are breast feeding, taking any other prescription or nonprescription medicine, herbal preparation, dietary supplement, if you have allergies to anything else, have inflammation of the pancreas, high blood lipid levels or epilepsy.
Less serious side effects are change in mood or emotions, dizziness, drowsiness or lack of coordination. If these occur call your physician for advice.
Serious side effects are severe allergic reactions such as rash, hives, itching, difficult breathing, tight chest, swelling of the mouth, face, lips, tongue, cough, faint, itching, pain, redness at injection site or wheezing. If these occur get emergency medical help.
