Saphris generic name asenapine belongs to a family of drugs known as antipsychotic medication which works by changing the chemical action within the brain and it is used to treat symptoms of psychotic conditions such as schizophrenia and bipolar disorder known as manic depression in adults.
It is suggested no not even drinking while using this drug as the drug’s effectiveness may be decreased and the side effects may be increased.
At this time the medical community defines moderate consumption of alcohol as no more than two drinks per day and no more than 14 drinks per week. If anything more than that it is considered an unhealthy dependency on alcohol that may have adverse social, family and health consequences.

Serious side effects are severe allergic reactions such as hives difficult breathing, tight chest, swelling of the mouth, face, lips or tongue, stiff rigid muscles, high fever, sweating, confusion, fast or uneven heartbeats, feeling faint, twitching or uncontrolled movements of your eyes, lips, tongue, face, arms, legs, tremors, trouble swallowing, numb or weak on one side of the body, sudden severe headache, vision, speech, balance problems, easy bruising or bleeding, fever, chills, body aches, flu symptoms, white patches or sores inside your mouth or on lips, convulsions, unusual thoughts, behaviour, hallucinations or considering injury to yourself.If these occur get emergency medical help.
