Dacogen generic name Decitabine belongs to a family of drugs known as nucleoside analogs which is used to treat myelodysplastic syndromes which include certain kinds of anemia or leukemia and works by blocking cell growth.

Serious side effects are severe allergic reactions such as rash, hives, itching, difficult breathing, tight chest, swelling of the mouth, face, lips, tongue, change in urination, chest pain, confusion, depression, difficulty swallowing, fainting, irregular heartbeat, fever, chills, sore throat, numbness of arms and legs, one side weakness, redness at injection site, headache, dizziness, stomach pain, vomiting, short of breath, sores in mouth, bruising, bleeding, tiredness, weakness, changes in vision or speech.If these occur get emergency medical help.
