Clonidine Hydrochloride Alcohol
Clonidine hydrochloride is used for the treatment of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in children and adolescents aged 6 to 17 and is given in the form of extended release tablets.
It is not a central nervous system (CNS) stimulant and should be used as part of a total treatment for ADHD hich includes counseling and other therapies.
It is an oral, non-stimulant, twice daily therapy and is known as a centrally acting alpha2-adrenergic receptor agonist and it is not known exactly how it works.
The consumption of alcohol is not a consideration as the medicine is for use with children.
Before starting this drug advise your physician if the child is allergic to this drug, any other drug or substance, in rare occasions is pregnant or breastfeeding, has kidney problems, low or high blood pressure, history of fainting, heart problems, stroke considerations, have any skin reaction after taking the drug, prescription or non prescription drugs the child is presently taking.
Less serious side effects are sleepiness, tiredness, upper respiratory tract infection the symptoms which may be cough, runny nose, sneezing, irritability, sore throat, trouble sleeping, nightmares, change in mood, constipation, stuffy nose, increased body temperature, dry mouth or ear pain. If these occur call your physician for advice.
Serious side effects low blood pressure, low heart rate, sleepiness, withdrawal symptoms such as increased blood pressure, headache, increased heart rate, lightheaded, tightness in your or extreme nervousness. If these occur get emergency medical help.
